Hello world, how are you?

I am Murilo, a UX Designer

This is such a big term that covers a lot of specialities and generalism in design, however I could not find a better word to help shape my work and thought process. As a result, some explanation of what I understand as a UX Designer is more than necessary.

UX Designer is the professional which will follow the design process from the Research to Concept/Ideation to deliverables. It is even clearer to see those characteristics on the go. Thus, feel free to check out my past work and understand more about the design process, or just scroll down to see a resumed view of it all.

RESEARCH

I am a masters student at UNIST. Research is defnitely core on my work and bring it later to the design is one of the hardests tasks we as designers have.

To provide a good research and bring relevant results it is necessary time, dedication and a team ready to learn their users as they manifest. Being ready to adapt, learn and design better research methodologies and use well the already estabilished ones is crucial for the final outcome. As a designer, I create an holistic view towards the design: from the user, client and technology to achieve a better result.

CONCEPT AND IDEATION

Ok, we have the research. What now?

Sometimes research can be not well seen in the design process because it takes time. However, when there is a clear direction from the research to the concept and ideation the results are clearer and better. And more convincing as well. It is all part of a process.

To evidenciate this process I normally use design tools, like the Double Diamond process to show the design stages and next steps, diagram analyses of user needs, and other graphical tools which help to evidenciate the design process to the result.

Test. Re test. Do it. Re do it.

DELIVER

We have the static layout. The research has been materialized and we can start bringing the user back to test our design and make the process a full circle with interaction, users and redesign where is necessary.

With the tests we can also start prototyping. For mobile I preffer prototyping with Origami Studio - for the animations and easiness of effects - or Invision or the Sketch native prototyping tool. It all depends on the context.

In design, in tools, in everything we do there is no one-tool fits all, instead it is a set of tools and mindset which achieve a good design and result. I am ready to use the ones I know and learn the ones I don’t.
